Weekly weigh-in #20

May 21, 2010

in Weigh-in

Wow, it’s hard to believe I’ve been at this for 20 weeks now! It’s great to look back and see how far I’ve come in this time, and think about all of you great people I’ve “met” along the way.

Anyways, I’ll kick off this weigh-in post by saying that this week, I saw the lowest number on the scale that I’ve seen in years. The lowest weight that I’ve been at in recent memory was 6 years ago for my wedding. My wife and I went on Atkins together before the wedding so we’d “look good for the photos”. I got myself down to around 220 lbs, but I distinctly remember that I could never get below 220, that was sort of my “wall” at the time. I honestly can’t remember how long it’s been since I was under 220 lbs. I was probably in junior high. Well, this week, I saw my scale weight reach below 220! It will take a few days for my Physics Diet weight to catch up, but it was still a great feeling to see those numbers on the scale!

So, how are my Physics Diet numbers looking, you ask?

  • Weight: 222.5 lbs
  • Pounds lost this week: 2.2
  • Pounds lost so far: 57.5
  • BMI: 28.56
  • Pounds to goal #1 of “overweight” BMI: 0.0 Goal met 4/9/10!
  • Pounds to goal #2 of “normal” BMI: 28.5

Couch to 5k Week 5

Couch to 5k has been going great lately. I’ve got my final run of the week tonight, and I’m really looking forward to it. As I wrote about earlier in the week, I’m really starting to feel like a runner!

My big running news for this week is that I signed up for my first 5k! It’s on July 10 – I would have liked to do one sooner than that, but my entire month of June is already booked! The 5k is being done as part of a small home-towny summer festival, so I expect the race to be about as low-key as you could imagine. But I am REALLY looking forward to it!

Weight Loss Blogging Survey

Just this morning, I received an email from a woman at the University of Oxford (which, from what I can tell, appears to be legit). She’s conducting research on bloggers’ online disclosure – from the email:

I would like to invite you to take part in a short (15 minute) survey about your weight loss blog. The survey seeks to examine bloggers’ online disclosure. I am interested to find out if and why people are willing to reveal private or sensitive information online. What are the benefits of disclosing information on a weight loss blog? And does talking about weight issues online have an impact on your offline disclosure?

If you are interested in participating, please visit the survey website at:
http://limesurvey.oii.ox.ac.uk/index.php?sid=41974&lang=en

I went ahead and filled out the survey, and she asked if I wouldn’t mind passing it along to others, so there it is if you’re interested.

That’s it for me – everyone have a great weekend!

Way to go on getting through your wall!!! Mine seems to be 230…I was stuck 233-239 for a year, and now I’m stuck between 229 and 232…

I got the same email. I did a bunch of Google searches (in between PACMAN rounds) on her before I did the survey, but it looks legit to me, too! I completed the survey as well.

Happy Friday, Brandon!!!

Ya congrats on your loss!
Like Erin, I was stuck between 165-172 for a year. Then 152-159 for months. Now stuck between 147 and 150 for the last month. Very frustrating!

It definitely was a great feeling to get through that 20 minute run – and it wasn’t even as bad as I had thought :)

Congrats an breaking down the wall and signing up for your first 5k!

YEAH! I love that you broke through to your lowest weight so far. Amazing! Look how great you are doing!

Also, I am super thrilled for your 5k. I am signing up for one but the one I want is in August… I’m not sure I want to continue running for that long. I never feel like you do (like a runner.) :(

I’m excited to see you rock it!
:)
