Wow. It’s hard to believe that 10 years have already gone by since I graduated from high school. In some ways, it seems like almost yesterday. In others, it seems like ages ago.
Now, I’m not one of those people who looks back at high school as being some of the best years of their lives, always wanting to go back and relive their “glory days”, but I do think it will be fun to see some of these people who I haven’t seen in 10 years. Even though I played both football and basketball in high school, I was never terribly popular. And even though I was overweight throughout high school, I didn’t really get picked on for that. Mostly, I just had a small group of close friends – some of whom I’m still in touch with, others not.
When I graduated high school, I weighed around 260 pounds. My reunion isn’t until August, meaning that I’ll likely be walking into my reunion weighing 50-60 pounds less than when I graduated, which will be a pretty amazing feeling. I certainly didn’t set out to lose weight specifically because of my reunion – it’s more like icing on the cake.
I don’t feel like I’ve got anything to prove, or that I need to show off to an ex-girlfriend, or anything like that, but I think it will be a great feeling to show up at that reunion so much healthier and happier than I was 10 years ago.

I totally can see how good that would feel, I missed my reunion last year but will hopefully make it to the next out a happier healthier me.
Icing on the cake…exactly! I can understand this completely. I’m organizing a family reunion this year and I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t excited for everyone to see the new and improved me.

My high school didn’t even do a ten year reunion. We’ve got our fifteen year coming up. Maybe I should try to make that happen… Of course, with facebook now, I “see” these people ALL the time.
And hey, you should be proud to walk in that much thinner. That’s frickin’ awesome!

For some people it’s a motivator, but for me, I could care less! I had a very small class and our personalities didn’t mesh. I’ve got a few classmates on my Facebook friends list and I still run into some people from time to time, but other than the basic exchange of pleasantries, I don’t care to associate with them. My 10 year is coming up in 2013 and I really have no intention of going!

I’ll be going to my 10 year…in 2012, hopefully I’ve lost a bit more weight by then
I think its a great goal to want to go there healthier and happier, and you definitely will! How ’bout them apples?

That’s going to be so much fun going to your reunion being much slimmer! I just had my 20 year reunion last summer, and I chickened out at the last minute, I don’t know why. Maybe because I really didn’t like high school!
I didn’t like high school much either, but there are definitely some people I’m looking forward to seeing. I had a good number of close friends that moved out of state immediately after high school, and while I’ve kept in touch with most of them, it’s still been 10 years since I’ve seen them.
I’ve avoided my high school reunion but if I did go to one it would be awesome to go as a thin hot mama! I graduated high school at around 200 pounds. I’m over that now even with my current weight loss but I know that some day I’ll be below that. Maybe, just maybe I will gather the courage to go… who knows. I’ve shown a lot of courage this year.
You’re going to have a good time.
That’s awesome!!! Personally, my 10 year reunion was a couple of years ago, and I couldn’t have cared less. For me high school just wasn’t that significant, so it’s not a big motivator for me, but it would be nice to show off newly found fitness to people you haven’t seen in a while!

Jeez….you are all such youngsters! I’m working on my 20th high school reunion! I was a fattie at my 10th (like most of the guys) but can’t wait for the 20th.

So what does that make you? The old man yelling at all these damn kids to get off his lawn?
I just had my 10 a couple years ago and was shocked how many people got heavy! I felt terrible still being so big but so were a lot of other people. And in my less evolved self that made it seem ok. I`m so happy for you that you get to experience that as you want to look. It just feels nice to be successful in all areas of life, plain and simple. This area is just the one that people see all the time. Can`t wait for some pictures! hint hint

Yeah, I’m friends with a number of people from high school on Facebook, and there’s definitely a good number of them that have put on weight since high school. I’ll definitely share some photos when the time comes
I really thought about losing weight for my reunion, but that didn’t happen. So, maybe my 15 I’ll be the lean mean man I would like. While I had a good time in HS (despite being fat and teast a bit), I didn’t really care to lose weight for them. FOr me? Yes. For my wife? Yes. For my (way in the future) kids? Yes. But old classmates? No.
But, man it’ll be super cool for you to go so much lighter than you bgraduated! Sweet!!

Exactly, I’m not doing this for my old classmates. I’m doing this for myself, my wife, and my kids. As I said, walking into my reunion much lighter than when I graduated will just be icing on the cake.
