Well, I’ll just come right out and say it: I didn’t meet my first goal this week. I broke my streak of losing 3.6 pounds each of the last 3 weeks. A number of things came together where I ended up having a 5 day weekend this past weekend (Friday thru Tuesday) – and we all know how well I do on weekends
I really didn’t do that badly over my long weekend, but I didn’t do that great either – I mostly just plateaued the entire week until the past few days. Although I’ve noticed lately that if I have a higher carb day, I seem to retain more water and have a higher weigh-in the next day, and then it usually drops back down the next day – this could be partly to blame for my less than stellar weigh-ins early in the week.
It was nice to have the long weekend though. My family took a little “staycation” and drove down to Seward for the day on Tuesday. We walked the docks, looked at boats, and went to the Alaska SeaLife Center (which is packed with tourists in the summer, but nearly empty all winter). My son had a great time watching the sea lions and sea otters, spending most of the time running back and forth between the two yelling “look dad, look!”
A good time was definitely had by all, but we ended up getting home late, and Tuesday is my night to exercise (my wife and I trade off every other night between exercising and watching the kids), so I ended up having to skip out on that. This past week is really making me look forward to this weekend’s Weekend Warrior Challenge!
Here are what my numbers looked like this week:
- Weight: 234.0 lbs
- Pounds lost this week: 2.6
- Pounds lost so far: 46.0
- BMI: 30.04
- Pounds to goal #1 of “overweight” BMI: 1.0
- Pounds to goal #2 of “normal” BMI: 40.0
While I didn’t keep my 3.6 lbs streak going, a 2.6 lbs loss is nothing to stick my nose up at – I’ll take it!
And speaking of the Weekend Warriors Challenge – there’s still time to sign up if you haven’t had a chance to do so yet! Just write up a quick post with your goals for the weekend, and leave a comment over on this post with a link. I’ll be putting up the list of participants later today, so you still have some time if you want to join us for a healthy and happy Easter weekend!

I hope you aren’t too incredibly bummed about not meeting the first goal, b/c HOLY SH*TBALLS!
I find all of this to be incredibly motivating, especially since you know weigh less than me. DAMN YOU!
Glad you had a nice “staycation” and I very much looking forward to the challenge!

No, I’m not too bummed at all – I didn’t imagine that I’d be able to keep up 3.6 lbs per week forever.
And sorry about passing you up, I can slow down for you if you’d like
I’m excited about this weekend’s challenge too! I have today off (yay Govt Job!) so I started early. I just got back from a 1 hour strength training session!

I’ve got a gov job too, so I know exactly what you’re talking about there
– that was part of the reason for my 5 day weekend last weekend!
Hey, hey, hey! I’ve been there!!! Have you been to Exit Glacier Lodge, home of “cheap beer and lousy food”?? I loved that place! Did you eat at Chinooks? The seafood saute is to die for!!!
You pulled a great number this week – I’d kill for your numbers!!!

Nope, we didn’t get to eat at any of those places. One of the downsides of going during the winter is that most of those places are closed. We ended up eating lunch at some little hole in the wall diner. Ray’s is my personal favorite, but they don’t open for another month or so…
I second what Erin said, I would kill for your numbers!
Great pictures, I have a little guy and we went to the aquarium in Boston all he kept saying was WOW…WOW!
I am looking forward to this weekend edition
Great loss man, even if it’s not up to your standards
… hehheh. Your son looks like he had fun, great pics. Good luck on your weekend, we’ll rock it out like last time.

I suppose you were with your son because it is spring break in Alaska. I guess everyone goes south for spring break.
Hey I put up my challenge thingy at my site.

Well my son’s only 2 years old, so he’s not in school yet so spring break isn’t really a factor for us. I think it was the previous week anyways.
Hi Brandon! You had a great loss this week! Even with your normal routine being off, you were able to get your weight down by another 2.6 lbs!!!
Good luck to all my fellow Weekend Warriors!!!
Like the rest said it’s a great number for an unusual week. Keep up the great work!
